Colour Correcting With Green Corrective Concealer!

The world of cosmetics decided to combine art principles through the application  of certain coloured primers to areas of the face to “correct” any “discolouration” through a concept called colour correcting. You can look at the colour wheel when deciding which corrective conceal colour to use. (Say that three times and you have a tongue twister). You can look at a colour on the wheel, let’s pick red, look at the shade opposite to it, which happens to be green, and use that specific shade to counteract the appearance of the pigmentation.

(This is not my picture, I was too preoccupied to run upstairs and take one… bad idea). For this colour correcting post, I purchased a green concealer to target red areas on my face. Even though I do not have a lot redness on my face, just blemish spots, I still wanted to try this! I was hesitant at first because I wasn’t sure if my foundation would cover the green pigment and I feared looking like the hulk. I have used this to brighten up my under eye area and the  area around my mouth and I applied some to the bridge of my nose as it tends to get a little red. The before picture is below! You can’t tell that it is in the area under my eyes but it is haha.

I think the product works; however, there are some cons to the list of pros. Lets examine the pros: overall, the area that the concealer is applied to looks much brighter, it is easy to apply, and the applicator can get hard-to-reach-areas around the eyes. Lets explore the cons: have to apply a lot of foundation/concealer/powder to reduce the underlying green. If you are not someone who likes to put on a lot of layers of face products on your skin or prefer to keep your beauty routine short and sweet, this may not be your thing. An after picture is shown below! This picture was taken outside, so this is how it appears in the sunlight. I had to cut out the top half of this picture LOL and focus in on the areas that I applied it.

I like how bright my under eye area appears (in reality and in this picture), but I feel as though there is a slight green tint that still peaks through. It may be that fact that I know it’s there or that it may not be completely covered. But when I asked my mom and my friends for their opinions, they said they did not noticed anything. Maybe I should try a new way to apply it and then compare the results! I know that a peach/orange colour is used to neutralize the appearance of any blueish tones, but I kinda like how it looks bright under the eye area anyway.
